MONTGOMERY COUNTY
YOUTH POETRY CONTEST

Divided
into four age groups (Grades 1-3, Grades 4-6,
Grades 7-9, Grades 10-12). The contest's purpose
is to recognize and promote excellence in poetry
writing for local students! $50 First Place,
$25 Second Place prizes will be given at a formal
awards presentation by 2011 Poet Laureate, Amy
Small-McKinney, on Saturday, April 21, 2012,
at Musehouse: A Center for the Literary Arts
(7924 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118).

AWARD IN POETRY

|
The
Elizabeth Graeme Fergusson Award in Formal Poetry
will be a yearly award of $250 to a High School
student from Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware,
or Philadelphia counties who has submitted the
best example of a poem written in a determinate
form . The prize will be awarded at the annual
Montgomery County Poet Laureate (MCPL) Awards
Ceremony at Musehouse: A Center for the Literary
Arts (7924 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia,
PA 19118) on Saturday April 21st 2012.

SARAH MOOK
POETRY PRIZE
Sarah
Gail Mook was a student in the third grade at
Buckingham Friends School in Lahaska, Pennsylvania,
when she died suddenly of an aortic aneurysm
on December 14, 1995. Sarah started writing
poems in kindergarten. It is the goal of this
outreach that Sarah's gift continue to inspire
young poets.
