The Prestige Championship has arrived and it will
be a rematch of the thrilling 2003 finals in which
the 69ers defeated A II P on a tiebreaker. 69ers won
the franchises first ever Prestige Championship that
year. A II P went on to win the title in the following
two seasons (as well as 2010 and 2011). Most of the
season has really seemed to lead towards the 69ers
and A II P in the Finals, as they've led their respective
divisions Nearly the entire season, and at 12-3 overall,
these two teams hold a commanding dominance over the
entire league. This is only the fourth time in league
history that each of the top seeds meet in the Prestige
Championship (the previous being 2011, 2006, and 1997).
The 69ers will look to become the sixth team to finish
as Best Regular season team and Prestige Championship
in the same season (previously done in 2011, 2010,
2000, 1998, 1995 - four from A II P). In their only
matchup of the 2013 season, A II P defeated the 69ers
114-97 in Week 8 - though the 69ers were missing significant
starters due to a bye week. The 69ers have never lost
in the Prestige Finals (2-0 including the 2003 win
over A II P), while A II P is 6-3. As the top seeds
in the league, both of these teams have earned the
chance to finish as Prestige Champion.
