The
2012 Preseason ran for four weeks starting
with the traditional Hall of Fame game
between A II P and H, held in the Hall
of Fame founding city of Philadelphia.
The Preseason concluded with the Mexican
Seafood Classic between 69ers and United
in Albuquerque on August 30th in preparation
for the 2012 season kickoff on Wednesday
September 5th. Preseason is usually
a springboard for the season in that
it gives teams opportunities to gauge
their rosters, most notably rookies
and draft picks, as well as players
in different situations. It also brings
intrigue to some of the players that
may have slipped through the August
draft, opening the door towards the
usually busy Week 1 Free Agency. History
has shown that successful Preseason
results do not automatically ensure
team success in the Regular Season.
However players that have had successful
in the Preseason, usually go on to have
a good season, or in the case of rookies
and backups - successful futures. With
the Preseason, the entire roster counts
towards a team scoring each week, so
it is easy to track the development
and production every week.
