Poetry Reading at The Water Gallery, Lansdale

The
Montgomery County Wordshop will hold its first
poetry reading
on April 9, 2011, 7pm at The
Water Gallery (319 W. Main Street, Lansdale,
in the Dresher Arcade). The reading will feature
members of the
Wordshop including award-winning poets: Joanne Leva,
Liz Chang,
Doris Ferleger, Helen Mirkil, Amy Scott-McKinny,
Fran Baird, Neil
Babcox, Barbara Wagner, Grant Clauser, Bernadette
McBride, Lara
Gaydos, Susan Charkes and Tom Mallouk. The Event
is Free.
Open
mic reading will follow.
Refreshments will be available.
The
Montgomery County Wordshop began in November 2010
as a project of the Montgomery Country Poet Laureate
Program (MCPL). Since 1998, The MCPL program has
recognized the strength and diversity of poetic
talent in Montgomery County. Each year a new Poet
Laureate is selected and asked to develop a project
to further the appreciation of literary craft in
the community. Since then, various projects have
begun, including Poetry Writers in the Schools (WITS),
Poetry Noir, student poetry contests and others.
The
Water Gallery is located inside the Dresher
Arcade, 319 West Main Street, Lansdale, 215-393-7180,
close to Molly McGuire’s pub (where the Wordshop
is held monthly). The gallery features fine arts
and crafts including glass sculpture, paintings,
photography, book arts, pottery, and jewelry.
