Sheeder Bonnano will present the award to the winner
of the competition and read from her book, Slamming
Open the Door.

HUMAN SERVICES OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY
MCPL and NHS
Human Services of Montgomery County are teaming up to
launch three Workshops (1 ½ hours each, on a week
night) at WVPL in Blue Bell starting in 2012. Poetry and
Resilience is founded by 2011 MCPL Amy
Small-McKinney. The mission is to use poetry as a positive
tool for helping teens discover their voices through the
use of poetry; a way for youth to discover their strength
and resiliency in the face of challenges.

PHILADELPHIA
WRITERS' CONFERENCE, INC. (PWC)
MCPL
is joining with the the Philadelphia Writers' Conference
(PWC) and Musehouse: A Center for the Literary Arts. PWC
Free Forums will be held at the Musehouse (7924 Germantown
Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118) on the first Thursday of
every month, from 6:30PM - 8:30PM, beginning with readings
by award-winning PoetryWITS student poets. This event is
free and open to the public.

Arcadia Graduate Student Nicole

the MCPL community.

AMBLER
PUBLIC LIBRARY
PoetryWITS and the Ambler Library are joining together to
raise awareness and funds. Beginning this year, PoetryWTS
will be accepting an optional donation of $5 (five dollars)
for the Ambler Public Library in support of its mission
to support literacy, life long learning, informational
resources, and life enrichment for all of its patrons by
providing community based physical and electronic access
to collections of print and media and supporting effective
and enjoyable use of these collections... particularly committed
to providing the children of our community appropriate environments,
activities and collections that support information and
arts literacy.

THE
FRIENDS OF GRAEME PARK
MCPL is joining The Friends of Graeme Park on The
Elizabeth Graeme Fergusson Award in Formal Poetry -
which will be a yearly award of $250 to a High School School
Student (grades 9-12) from Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware,
or Philadelphia counties who has submitted the best example
of a poem written in any form. The award will be given at
the annual MCPL Awards Ceremony.

MOLLY
MAGUIRE'S (LANSDALE)
Molly Maguire's - Irish Restaurant & Pub in Lansdale
will be the host venue of Montco
Poet's Wordshop. Held the first Tuesday of every month,
this
workshop-style gathering is an opportunity for serious writers
to share and discuss their work in a cooperative setting
among peers.

THE
AMBLER THEATER
MCPL and Poetry Noir will be collaborating with The Ambler
Theater. In October 2011, they screened
a full length feature film as part of our Poetry Noir series.
The Ambler Theater will also be hosting the 2011
MCPL Poet Laureate Awards Celebration on Wednesday,
April 20, 2011.

BRIAR
BUSH NATURE CENTER
Children take over the Treetops Art Gallery this spring,
as we present the opening of Abington Wild,
a celebration of local plants and animals as artistically
rendered by local school students. Come join us for a special
reception featuring live entertainment and kid-friendly
refreshments supplied by Whole Foods of Jenkintown. The
Montgomery County Poet Laureate Program (MCPL) is inviting
students to participate in a nature art show by submitting
poems inspired by native plants and animals. We are
looking for 15-20 student poems to be displayed in the gallery
amongst fellow students artwork.
