By high school, she had won several local and national prizes for young poets, including a full scholarship to Allentown College.

Wisher graduated from North Penn High School in 1994 and went on to receive a B.A. in English/Black Studies from Lafayette College and a M.A. in Creative Writing/Poetry from Temple University. While a senior at Lafayette, Wisher began trekking to Philly to host October Gallery's Panoramic Poetry salon and perform her own work. At Temple, she co-founded a poet-activist collective in West Philadelphia based on June Jordan's Poetry for the People blueprint.

Currently, an English teacher at Germantown Friends School, Wisher mentors young poets, directs the slam team, and advises the staff of Polyphony, an award-winning student literary magazine. Wisher is chair of the annual Germantown Poetry Festival, which showcases the talents of young poets from neighborhood schools. In 2007, Wisher and husband Mark Palacio recorded Ruby Flo, an audio assemblage of spoken word and acoustic bass lines. Wisher is currently at work on a first volume of poems.
