2011 Poet Laureate - Amy Small McKinney

MCPL 2012 Celebrity Judge - Kathleen Sheeder Bonanno

The Montgomery County Poet Laureate (MCPL) program was founded by Joanne Leva of Lansdale, PA, to recognize and promote excellence in poetry. Modeled after the Bucks County Poet Laureate Program, which has been running successfully for over 30 years, the MCPL program has just completed it's 13th successful year.

The MCPL program promotes a sense of accomplishment and pride among students, artists, and citizens who choose to participate. The program benefits the county by building a long-term infrastructure for literary advancements in our community, in our schools and in our homes.

MCPL is a non-profit organization supported by the Indian Valley Arts Foundation (IVA) and our Community Partners: Musehouse, NHS Human Services, Philadelphia Writers Conference (PWC), Friends of Graeme Park, Ambler Library, Arcadia University, Ambler Theater, and Molly Maguire's Restaurant & Pub.

The MCPL program is supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, through its regional arts funding partnership, Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA). State government funding for the arts depends upon an annual appropriation by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance.

Additional support of the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) Partnership in Southeastern Pennsylvania is provided by PECO.
