Before opening with some surprising First Round Picks, the fun and lighthearted tone of the draft began with an amusing speech from the Prestige Champions. 328's then selected Ryan Mathews with the #1 pick making him the 7th RB taken first overall (the most for any position). Lightning then took wr Golden Tate who was the first of a new record five WR's taken in the First Round, surpassing last years record mark of four. Two QB's were selected including United's pick of Sam Bradford at #5 and 328's second of three First Round Picks with qb Jimmy Clausen at #9 (they also selected wr Arrelious Benn with pick #10). The 69ers took WR's with both their First Round Picks (Dez Bryant at #3 and Mike Williams at #8). The Tomcats (Javid Best at #3) and O's (CJ Spiller at #7) took the other two of three RB's in the First Round. Three trades were made at the draft, all of which only involved the exchange of draft picks.
