Over
the
last two years Week 2 has averaged 109 points per
team in scoring, which the highest back-to-back average
for consecutive seasons in the entire history of the
regular season. After last weeks impressive scoring
production (in which six teams produced 100 or more
points), could we be in store for another massive
week of scoring? The Game of the Week features a battle
for early sole possession of first place in the National
League, as Tormenta and the 69ers look for an encore
performance of last week where each team surpassed
120 points in scoring. The 69ers have only started
a season 2-0 twice (in 2006 and 2003, when they won
the Prestige title). Tormenta has not started 2-0
since 2004. Both the 69ers and Tormenta have started
the last two years 0-2 so this would really be a rare
start to a season for either franchise... In other
Week 2 action, Lake Show and United also battle for
the top spot atop the division standings; the Tomcats
look to avoid a 12th straight defeat against a franchise
they have not fared well against in the past; The
O's have only started 0-2 twice since 1996 and those
are the only years they did not clinch the Prestige
Playoffs. They try to avoid 0-2 against a 328's team
also looking to bounce back from a poor showing last
week; In another meeting of 0-1 teams the defending
champions play their home opener against an H team
desperate to start meeting their winning expectations.
